Cultural inspirations from around the world
Traveling the world to Europe, Asia, and South America inspired Peggy to see the vast variety of artistic styles, and the endless beauty of those regions. Her black and white, pen and pencil on paper approach, was inspired by her time cruising up the Mekong River in Vietnam where she created her drawings, incorporating the countries cultural symbols and celebrating the beauty of that region.

Peggy’s earlier drawings focused more on the simplicity of lines forming into an abstract portrait. These lines start and stop with intentional randomness and flow across the page like a river.

As Peggy continues to create pen and paper ‘whimsy women’ portraits, she has added more detail and often includes sculptural elements to the drawings, such as shading. Hidden hearts are a part of every creation, as a signature that was originally started with her sculptures. In many of her drawings, she also incorporates animals as part of the women’s hair.
