Peggy’s Story

A passion for art from a young age

Born and raised in New Canaan, Connecticut, Peggy’s love for the beauty in nature began while wandering in the woods with her beloved family dogs. As a young girl, she created stories and illustrated them into little books. While her mother was quite ill and in the hospital, she drew get-well cards with decorative envelopes. All of these early creations, Peggy’s mother treasured, and kept in a drawer in their home.

When her mother’s health was failing, she told Peggy that it would be a “shame if she did not do something with her art.” Peggy took her mother’s words (to heart), and throughout her adult life, she has worked on projects for personal and private enterprises.

In addition to her mother’s encouragement, her father also acted as an inspiration. He had a talent for working with wood. Once, Peggy’s mother mentioned the need to have a place to put her special dinnerware…and 2 weeks later, her father emerged from his small cellar workshop hauling a 9-foot buffet and hutch on his back. Needless to say, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!

Peggy has pursued her passion for art while also being a devoted wife to her husband Dayton, beloved mother to their two grown children Dayton and Margaret, and Grandmother to their 4 grandchildren.

Our commitment to good

helping domestic abuse survivors stay with their beloved pets

As a lover of animals and an advocate for human service and social good, Peggy chose Purple Leash Project as the nonprofit she wishes to support. The organization’s long-term goal is to fundamentally change the landscape of domestic violence services for survivors with pets, so no survivor has to choose between their own safety and the safety of their pet.
