A love of painting began…

In celebration of life’s milestones.

Peggy began painting special personalized pictures for all the children being born into her extended family…nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend’s children. Throughout her lifetime, Peggy has celebrated family and friends’ birthdays by gifting paintings. She was also commissioned to create several retirement paintings for companies, depicting special events of the retiree’s life.

Ulu’s Legend

Watercolor Painting | 15 x 10

Ulu’s Legend was Peggy’s first story in her children’s book education at RISD, incorporating her illustration skills into watercolor paintings and creating a heartwarming story based on African folklore. Peggy read several legends before choosing two of her favorites, both emphasizing the search for acceptance and friendship: How the tortoise overcame the Elephant and the Hippopotamus and the Great Tug of War. Although these two stories are unrelated, she combined the characters and names and created a new fable about two kinds of turtles, land and sea.

Watercolor Birds: “Paolo” and “Enza”

Watercolor | 8”x10″

Paola and Enza are characters in a story written by Peggy’s cousin, Penelope Ogden Weinstein. Peggy was asked to illustrate the main characters who lived in Italy… a timid and unworldly caged canary (Enza), and a free-spirited high-flying sparrow (Paolo), who is a Venetian gondolier by trade! Peggy and Penny traveled to Venice to take some colorful photographs of the sights and sounds of this beautiful city, and to capture the energy and invigorating nature of the culture. When Paolo opens the door to Enza’s cage, representing an entrance to freedom and adventure, a new life begins for the two little feathered friends.
